This is a complimentary machine for me, I do most of my work on a mac- so my choice was based on only putting out $50 to get significant improvement over the integrated video. From what I saw the 9600 cards were at least twice as much money. I do some graphic stuff on this machine, but I'm not a gamer so Directx 8.1 is fine for me.
I got the less expensive 9200 card because I doubt the performance would be that noticable and I didn't like a few things about the only two vendors that had the R92LE-C3 available. In addition I wanted to keep things simple relative to the 260GX small desktop power supply which is only spec'd at 180w.
This may not be an issue, but I never found a clear answer regarding what is OK. I know some cards require at least a 300w power supply, as stated on the packaging.
