Not a good thing. Douglas Senior Member Username: Bob Post Number: 1012 Registered: 03-2002 Posted on Thursday, April 04, 2013 - 09:44 pm: Hey Doug, Saw that once before. Quit, relaunched, and it was all good. If that ever happens again, quit, count to 5, and launch again. (I think it happens when you try to lauch formZ when the process has not yet quit - even though Windows 'thinks' that it has.) Did a complete reboot of the system and it is still happening. Will probably do a Time Machine restore to get back to the old version and then try again later when I've got a bit of spare time.
Thanks anyways. Doug Senior Member Username: Dmclean Post Number: 154 Registered: 03-2010 Posted on Thursday, April 04, 2013 - 10:09 pm: Something is seriously messed up here.
Even getting rid of the 7.1 folder and restoring the formZ 7 folder from a Time Machine Backup and I am still getting the problem. Doug Senior Member Username: Bob Post Number: 1013 Registered: 03-2002 Posted on Thursday, April 04, 2013 - 10:37 pm: So you are running OS X? I know for Windows, you need to install the VCRedist.exe's from Microsoft. Not sure why that would happen for Mac. Did you quit and rename your autodessys - formZ 7.0 folder? Or download the new version from here? Senior Member Username: Dmclean Post Number: 155 Registered: 03-2010 Posted on Thursday, April 04, 2013 - 10:47 pm: Running OSX Lion.
Did the upgrade from within formZ by using the Check for Updates. Haven't tried renaming the FormZ 7.0 folder and doing it that way. Unfortunately I've got to get some work done so I can't spend too much time on it right now. Fortunately the work is just Archiving, - Loading and Exporting some models in a different format, and I can do that without the smooth modelling.
Need to solve the problem soon though since Smooth Modelling is one of my real go-to areas in the program. Thanks for your advice. Will probably get around to trying another install tomorrow morning. Doug Moderator Username: Tech Post Number: 19417 Registered: 04-2001 Posted on Friday, April 05, 2013 - 08:35 am: Douglas, We have seen this occur in somewhat rare cases if you try to relaunch formZ before it has fully finished quitting. (The system may no longer show its icon in the Dock or Task Bar, but the process hasn't completely finished running.) If you quit, wait 2 seconds after the icon disappears, and then relaunch, does this work properly? If not, and if renaming the autodessys: formZ 7.0 folder does not fix it, you can download a 'clean copy' from here: Does that fix it for you?

Renamed, reloaded and all is well. Now I just have to reload MAXWELL and all will be good in the world. Okay, maybe not in all the world, but at least in my little virtual corner. Many thanks Douglas.
AutoDesSys to be at AIA National – Bonzai 3D and formZ will be at the American Institute of Architects National Convention next month, June 10-12, in booth #2375. The company has recently updated Bonzai 3D to version 2.1 which includes an updated SketchUp 7 importer/exporter. Additionally, the famous developer of formZ has also introduced OpenClip technology for PowerCADD users who use formZ and Bonzai 3D. Nvidia PhysX and CUDA News The new product includes the integration of two key Nvidia technologies: Nvidia PhysX and Nvidia CUDA. Recently Architosh reported on the first CUDA-based rendering GPU-driven ray tracer engine. Is similar to OpenCL utilizing language that takes advantage of computational resources on graphics processing units (GPUs). The latest Softimage 2011 enables real-time simulations using Nvidia PhysX, a powerful physics application programming interface (API) or “engine” accelerated by Nvidia’s Quadro graphics cards.
T-Splines updated to version 2.3 T-Splines for Rhino 2.3 has been released this month. T-Splines for Rhino 2.3 features integration with two other products based on the Rhino platform, Grasshopper and Orca3D.
Users of Grasshopper, a generative modeling program based on Rhino, can use free-form T-Spline shapes as the basis of. Similar integration with Orca3D, a means that naval architects can cut sections through T-Spline hulls. “T-Splines is of the greatest value to the busiest designers, because it allows them to iterate more quickly between designs and converge on the desired shape,” said Matt Sederberg, CEO of T-Splines.
